Just like seeing Spidey on the splash of FF #250, his appearance here is such a welcome taste.

The Marvel Universe is like one of those massive theater-pipe-organs that fewer and fewer performers remember how to play.

But occasionally, someone who remembers what it can really do sits down at the bench and things happen that remind you how unbelievably incredible that old thing really is.

....and I have (another) new favorite page! This is awesome -- almost feels like one of your commissions! I also like seeing Nightcrawler giving it to Magneto. Great way to start the day!

JB, I think that--of all the times you've drawn the Thing--this is my favorite. The shadows on his rocky hide are incredible and the pose is quintessential Ben Grimm. What a fantastic page (no pun intended).

 | With Nightcrawler, the Torch, the Thing, and now Spider-Man against them, Doom and Magneto might have more of a fight than they'd expected... |

Spidey is positively swimming through the air in that last panel. And that Doom / Grimm match-up: Magnificent.

Well, the X-Men do have their hands full at the moment, between a bunch of them at the Grey family's rebuilt (?) house and the rest at the X fort.

Thing vs. Dr. Doom is my favorite one-on-one showdown. Properly done, the battles reveal Ben’s unrelenting toughness and determination against seemingly overwhelming odds. I’m curious to see what Victor has in mind this time.

It’s a great page to admire. My biggest grin came from Doom’s servo-guard (or whatever they’re called) dealing with Johnny’s flyby attack.
 I love this stuff. |
