Has the Fantastic Four fought Magneto? Trying to think of when it might have happened but nothing comes to mind. *Meeting* him, sure, but fighting him...?

Has the Fantastic Four fought Magneto?•• Yes, in collusion with the Sub-Mariner. I referenced it in HIDDEN YEARS.

There's also a fair chance that someone would have been up and flying above NYC, at the right time and place to catch what they might well have thought was an out-of-control jet (or two).

*** Thanks! I thought it must have happened sometime but couldn't recall such an encounter.

That time machine does present a problem, doesn't it?Wouldn't you want to go back and erase ALL the bad stuff? Where do you stop? It's too early to contemplate this; I've just barely started on my first cup of coffee... •• When I noted back in 2001 that the FF could erase the attack with their time machine, I also included a moment of Reed saying it was possible only because the event had JUST happened, and the "ripples" had not reached out far enough to be of consequence. The further back we go, however, the greater those ripples. The old "Let's Kill Hitler" gambit would set loose a great unraveling that could itself have even WORSE consequences than what actually happened!

"New Yorkers are notoriously oblivious to the wonders around them. Spot someone looking up, and s/he's almost certainly a tourist."
---
This is quite accurate. So many times I've walked though the Times Square area, watching scamsters approaching tourists in front of me repeatedly, and yet when I pass them with my head down and my "I don't have time for this sh*t" expression, they don't bother with me.

Human Torch and Nightcrawler are bringing the fire and brimstone. That BAMF! is the star of today’s page.

JB: "After all, seems like stuff is constantly falling out of the sky!"

That very thought crossed my mind yesterday, when the Torch relieved those two Doombots of hands.
As has already been said, today's BAMF! might be the greatest BAMF! of all time!

Yes, how many New Yorkers would contribute the sudden scent of brimstone to be just another contribution to the city's bouquet?

Stephen Fry, in his novel "Making History", plays out the "Let's kill Hitler" plot, and it's repercussions, in exactly that way. Well worth a read.
