Love that the Mags/Doom subplot will be percolating for a bit - the best villains need time to build up, even though I'd love to see the payoff now, now now!!!! Err...calming down... Good to touch base with Jean's family - makes sense they'd not want to rebuild in the same spot. I never got why people do that so often (see Florida and hurricanes for an example). If my place was destroyed I'd look for a new place, less likely to experience that destruction. But of course, I've moved a lot in my life vs the average person (4 places as a kid, 5 in 4 years of university, 5 as an adult, never lasted 10 years in one spot, multiple cities) so my perspective is different. never understood how people get so attached to one spot they live there all of their lives.
Our minds about to be blown? Great! I love twists we can't see coming (ala Doom).
Forgive me if I'm late to the party and this has been asked/answered elsewhen (see what I did there?) but Jay B, do you find yourself catching moments where a road you would have taken with this material back in the '80's seems not be that which you would take now? I wonder how time and your evolution as a storyteller (and perhaps the change in the marketplace) has influenced this wonderful romp you're currently on.

Except for the broadest strokes, I’m not doing anything here that Chris and I might have done in the Eighties.
The interiors are great, but how about those balconies? I've spent more time looking at those than anything else on the page. Except maybe the mesmerizing rug that isn't Havok's power effect.
It was the quieter moment scenes like this, with relatable clothing, that sucked me into the X-Men back with #131. It helps make the characters in team comics real people, a hallmark in a way of the early Fantastic Four who were a family living together rather than a bunch of folks in costumes waiting around for a super-villain.
I know I've mentioned this before, but I am continually impressed by the way JB takes this story down unexpected avenues without falling into the "anything to defy expectations regardless of whether or not it makes sense" trap. This is now my favorite of JB's work in both writing and art!
