(I was thrown for just a second to see how much bigger Gladiator is than Iceman. Kalark is a big guy!)•• Plus I don't think of Bobby as tall. He's not, strictly speaking, a kid any more, but I still think he'd have to stand on tiptoe to hit six feet.

Agreed! Even with with Kitty around, I sometimes think of Bobby as the "baby" of the group. And in my head, he, Spider-Man and the Human Torch are perpetual teens.

According to what Stan wrote at the time, Bobby, Peter and Johnny were roughly the same age, 16, when they made their public debuts, about a year apart.Typically, this was forgotten, and little effort was made to keep them teenagers—especially once the fans-turned-pro started running the show. “Hey, I was twelve when I started reading Marvel comics, and I’m 25 now…..”

Of the many frustrations that come with my career, the minibrains who insist the characters should age in real time (or at all) crowd the top of the list. Now, I’m fully aware Stan and Jack played the Marvel universe in real time, at first, but as years rolled by and the company showed no sign of going away, they started applying the brakes. Unfortunately, the damage had been done.

Still interested to see where this story goes, but that was one abrupt resolution. You did warn us, to be fair. As a reader I have to say I do find Professor X problematic in that he can do precisely what he just did every time.
The art is great. Amazing to think we've got so far into this, but I still feel like I'm waiting to get a big bite into the X-Men themselves. Looking back to that first issue, I really enjoyed the characterisation you gave us of Sprite, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Cyclops et al. One of the natural corollaries of such a large cast of characters (fun as the guest appearances have been) is that there is less time for each character.
