Alt-Magento (WHAT IF Magneto?) is finding these mutants at their most vulnerable.

Teenagers.

It would be interesting to see if the M-Men get to see their counterparts (even for a glance) in "our" reality.

Alt-Hank McCoy (among others) could be in for a shock.

JB: To paraphrase, is a bird being arrogant when it flies?

***

Maybe not arrogant, but I've seen some damn smug bluejays...

And as for today's page... yikes. Jean and Scott are likely to have a very different relationship in this reality.

... is The Watcher "living" in our continuity and watching other realities, or is he beyond that, and one continuity is as real to him as any other?

***

I hadn't thought of it until this post (and the answer: "Yes") -- but I think this means that the only "continuity", and therefor the only inclusive/expansive/total universe, belongs to the Watchers.

It's their universe and we just live in it.

So, after 18 issues, after watching the X-Men against Sebastian Shaw, the Sentinels, The Imperial Guard, a brain-fried Wolverine and Phoenix how come this is when I am really preocupied?

Is it fear to the unknown to MagnetoLs team? Or is it that a good X-Men fan knows when he is reading a good Magneto story? And we surely know that Magneto is THE WORST there is.

ITEM: JB: "I refuse to be insulted by this!!"

I couldn't imagine you would be insulted. You're very generous with your recognition of other artists, and whether James J. meant Neal or Art, I think it's kinda complimentary.

Or is this your well known irony and I'm being a git? That's a possibility... I think I saw it in one of the Watcher's monitors.

ITEM: I think Magneto or a bird is arrogant. I think someone in an airplane who claims the ability to fly is conceited. Same smug sense of superiority, but arrogant means that one can do it, and conceit means that one can't. Or so I read it.

ITEM: I just cannot wait to see how the M-Men interact, being raised so differently from the X-Men. A more formidable force than the original team? An even more dangerous threat? Or a group that realizes that Magneto may have been stooging the crap out of them? WOW, am I loving this series!

I'll mention now, since it's not REALLY a spoiler, that having Scott kill Jean's parents was a way of denying myself an easy out for the end of this story. Will the "M-Men" be freed from Magneto's control? So what if they are? They're still a bunch of murderers!!

(I'd offer a free five years membership in the JBF to anyone who can come up with something better than "M-Men" but, to paraphrase Captain Quint, "There's too many clowns on this island!")

What IS Magneto's birth surname in this continuity?  Had it been revealed by the time JB left the book?
