Just a reminder, if needed, that Shooter wanted Jean/Phoenix to be “horribly tortured for all eternity”. It was my choice to kill her.

One thing I noticed looking back is that the timeframe is highly compressed, something that it shares with your original X-Men run (there's a year of issues there following the encounter with Magneto that feel like they take place over the course of a single week). This feels to me now like the last few "issues," starting with the business on Muir Isle, is maybe about 24 hours altogether.

Let's see Jack Bauer do that in a day! This is a season of 24 that I would love to watch.

One challenge I’ve often issued to those who insist the stories should take place in real time, is to sit down with a couple of years of issues and tally up the actual “on camera” elapsed time. For example, the original Galactus story took place inside a single afternoon! And many times one story slid into the next without a break. Working on ELSEWHEN I’ve tried to insert a “realistic” amount of time for the characters, but I still end up with my entire original run happening between two Xmases!

JB wrote: "That was the first time I heard him [Shooter] complaining about the last page being turned into an ad. (Also, he didn't think the drawing itself was up to snuff.)" ------- Honestly that sounds a bit petty --- like some sort of rivalry/dominance game.
That page of Magento at the end of #111 was incredible. As was today's page. You have an amazing gift.

Magneto's appearance on that final page of #111 wasn't only awesome, it's practically iconic. I don't get why Shooter would have any issue with the actual drawing.
The last page of this issue of ELSEWHEN is a definite shocker! Love the details in the wreckage and such!

If you are using that in the same way it's used to describe Kitty's power, then something entirely different is happening to Jean. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------- Yeah -- my uncertainty over what is going on is why I put the word in inverted commas. I thought it might be like Kitty and given you've now ruled that out it invites other guesses, but as I said -- no real idea as to what is happening with her.
As always, I look forward to finding out.

I saw that page a week or two ago, JB. Nice that most people like your versions better. I am also a fan of Jim Lee, but you're tops in my book!
Edited for typo.

I’m not sure of the point of the comparison. Lee and I both drew the X-Men, but any similarity ends there. After all, we represent two very different epochs in the history of the characters, with very different audiences. It’s rather like asking who’s the better Batman artist, Dick Sprang or Neal Adams?

For some reason, THIS drifted thru my brain this morning. Got me thinking about turning it into a single issue story for Kitty and Peter—yes, even tho I don’t really approve of the supernatural intrusion in X-MEN.
