It’s vaguely amusing that anyone should ask why this technique wasn’t used against the Sentinels in “Days of Future Past”. My whole story, there, depended on what was basically a quick bit of sleight of hand. The opening presented the mass slaughter of super-folk as a done deal, and, happily, nobody wrote in to asked how it had been accomplished.

With that combination of powers and brains, a much more “realistic” version would have been the Sentinels being defeated—which is what has happened here.

So, yes, no DoFP in ELSEWHEN. Happy endings all ‘round.

--

It's a tribute to your writing that you made DoFP seem possible. Shaw's Mark IV Sentinels were able to take out the Human Torch, the Thing, the Vision, and the Scarlet Witch in a believable way. If the Sentinels had been trying to kill instead of kidnap, there might have been some dead heroes. Imagine if Shaw had waited until he had five Sentinels for each hero, calibrated to their powers like we've seen, and then he or the Master Mold launched a blitzkrieg on them. Shaw's hubris in taking on the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four at once while still building  his army might have been the thing that prevented DoFP.

Funny moment this morning. Finished scripting 13, and realized I was only halfway thru scripting 12! D'oh!

"wobblin' 'round like a hog on ice."

That phrase will be stuck in my head all day now.

Ok -if those idiots weren't already asking for a hurting, they certainly are now!

Jean is starting to look more and more like her old self especially in that upper right panel or perhaps it's just me looking forward to that possibility...

Brilliant "squirrel's eye" view of that prostrate Sentinel. I like the inward tilt of the foot, which adds to the sense of collapse -- and the detail on the sole of the foot.

Me too, Steven.  I may just add it to my idioms (if the appropriate situation ever arises).

And to think that it only took a pencil, some paper, and several decades of practice to create this amazing panel!

Reminding me of a con where I had the pleasure of sharing a table with Joe Sinnott. Joe had brought along some pages to ink, and as he worked before an enthralled audience, one of the onlookers asked it he could hold Joe's brush. Joe handed it to him, and the kid (he was probably about 17) turned it in his hands as if it was a holy relic.

Joe smiled and took it back. "It's not in the brush," he said.
