I ducked when I saw that bat coming! That's how much I feel for these characters.

I did NOT see this Jean twist coming! I was expecting a hillbilly bloodbath - or maybe I should say I was looking forward to a hillbilly bloodbath for these jerks! What we see instead is surprising, yet it is a quiet and small realization of a power that she has. And one I never expected!!

As noted, this is an expanded version of the “Cat from Outer Space” scene which was going to be used to unleash Dark Phoenix again, after her “lobotomy” at the hands of the Shi’ar. That lobotomy was something else entirely in this timeline, so other things are happening. Three different timelines, here, slowly converging.

The panel with the bat swing caught me by surprise as well. I am enjoying the story very much. Especially the fact that it is VERY unpredictable. I love the art, but after so many decades it is refreshing to enjoy stories that are grounded in comic book rules and reality.

Yes, something I've done at least once before, years before the shows you mention. Unlike WESTWORLD, tho, I've been telling the readers all along that was happening in this story. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Totally agree, you also don't make it the central reveal of the plot - the 'aha! Gotcha' moment. You simply use it as a narrative tool. Apologies if I sounded like I thought you were jumping on the bandwagon - I don't.

So an intangible Jean? I sense there is more to be seen here... very interesting indeed is all I’ll say.
This page seems particularly jammed packed with things to look at. I seem to recall you having a fairly quick layout time -how long does a page with this much detail typically take in general I wonder...

NO ONE draws Jean and Phoenix better than you! My 12 year old self fell madly in love with Jean and Phoenix back in your original run (more with Jean, than Phoenix) and I was ecstatic to see Jean return by your hand in FF 286 and then in Hidden Years (cut down in its prime) Seeing her again now is a dream come true!
Quick questions (well, maybe not that quick I imagine):
1. Which female character that you've drawn do YOU feel is the "most attractive" ?
2. Which female character is the most fun / easiest for you to draw?

Gotta admit, I expected the bar scene to end much....bloodier. Too much Bethany on my mind!

True. Although I must admit I thought back then of it more as her affecting things around her, rather than herself (as we now see).
So my original thoughts as to what is going on and what Lillandra is interacting with have changed somewhat. I expect I may be overthinking things, but we’ll see...
In any event it’s a fun ride.
