Catching up...
JB, the small, isolated full body shot of Kitty Pryde in the final panel on page 3. It really does a fantastic job of showing her fear.
As to the current page, I sense an AC hit coming.

I had a thought on Cyclops' beams, but then realised it would make him pretty useless in cave.
My self-debunked theory was that his power was related to sunlight and that the solar rays/light hitting his eyes caused them to react by launching beams of force. The ruby quartz changed the way the light hit his eyes, preventing this reaction happening.

Today's page reminds me of one of my favorite sequences from JB's run on "Fantastic Four," when the FF had to use their powers and teamwork to return to Earth after Doctor Doom (actually Kristoff) blew up the Baxter Building in space. This page had the same vibe, though handled differently.

Over the years I have advised many a young artist to seek our his/her own stylization, when it comes to hands. Saves a lot of mental anguish!!

I had the same thought! I love that sequence, all four members contribute to the solution in a perfect use of their powers!

I love how much vertical was achieved with today’s layout! Very cool!

Not sure if this question has been answered...
Is every comic we read before Jean’s death still canon?
This discussion came up online — I thought this site might be the best place to find the correct answer :)

The panel layout is fantastic on today's page - it feels like we are falling right along with the team. And it also evokes X-MEN: HIDDEN YEARS as we saw this kind of layout to great effect.

I’d say everything is canon up to the published end of 137. Of course, it’s been a while, and I did not reread all those issues before I started on this. So it’s possible I’ve missed or misremembered a few details. You know. Like in comics.
