As soon as I saw the preview that JB sent out last Xmas (has it been approximately 11 months?), I knew right away that Franklin Richards who be involved.

Time for some penny cookies and a cold Coke from the corner store. This has taken me back to a happier time/place.

Holy cow, they're going after Franklin?!?! Shaw is not only taking on the Avengers and FF, he's got two of the most powerful reality-warpers ever born in his custody. Dangerous game you're playing there, buddy...

Also, Franklin seemed to be aware that something was coming before Johnny was. Does he just have better hearing, or was this a touch of the precognition that he's demonstrated in the past?

X-Men, Avengers and the F.F. in one issue. Wow.

One thing I'm really intrigued about how brazen Shaw is being, here. I'm used to seeing him working strictly under the radar, now he goes from openly targeting the X-Men to snagging an Avenger*?? He must be mighty confident in his plan to be so ballsy!

=============================================

I guess his plan can be traced back to this thought.....

That panel reminds me of how much dialog comics used to contain. When I was a kid, it might take me 20 - 30 minutes to read the average comic.

Curious balloon placement in that panel. Why isn’t Wyngarde’s balloon up against the panel border? Why isn’t Jean’s second balloon to the right of her head?

I’m remembering that Roger Stern had a rep for superb balloon placement, in part because he ballooned the pages first, figuring out what space was available, then tailoring his copy to fit that space.

WOW, looking at that ol' X-MEN panel makes me appreciate JB's artwork even more in this X-MEN: ELSEWHEN series.

Also, count me along with there rest here that are enjoying the appearances of the Avengers and F.F. in this issue. This story is becoming EPIC.

-C!

Shaw’s thoughts in Iron Man and Thor had me thinking about who the ideal person would be to take him down. The solution last time was pretty clever.

Edited: Had an idea, but then thought, “what if I’m right?”

Shaw IS going to get "taken down," and hard, in this story. But his demise will be suitably fraught with hubris and irony, so trying to guess who gets him might be a bit on the pointless side at this, ah, point.

James J. - I was re-reading some of my old X-Men comics recently, and I noticed this exchange between Shaw and Sen. Kelly from #135 (after the X-Men have escaped from the Hellfire Club and they're discussing how to capture these "criminals"). I'd forgotten about this but had to view it in a new light given the events of Elsewhen.

JB, the above post has me wondering... Did you go back and reread some of the X-MEN issues in preparation of working on ELSEWHEN?
