The added words are perfect, JB. Gives me that old sense of wonder, going back to when not everything is known about these characters. Kitty is so new, she hasn't even heard of adamantium! Cool. Wolverine is taken aback by Kitty's powers! Cool. And cripes, she's totally green, she shouldn't even be there and she's in a whole bunch of new trouble. Cool.
Great stuff! Hope the mojo stays with you.

And, as some of you may have guessed. . .

I didn't guess that, but it sure paid off. I was wondering how you kept the seats so consistent.

By the way, I want to add to the thanks for sharing these(not to mention producing them!) pages.
On the most recent page, I really like how each character seems in character. You couldn't really get away showing a female get spanked under most circumstances but that's Wolverine's character. "He" would be old-school and un-PC and it would just be the natural thing for him to do.
Kitty seems like a youngster who's more concerned with her own entertainment than with realizing the gravity of the situation and of her actions.
Good stuff that comes across as natural by someone that knows how to do it and illustrates by contrast how it's missing from many of the current comics I read through.

Just looked back at the first pages of this thread. WOW those drawings are rough! I really wasn't up to penciling for others to ink! If we continue the fantasy that Marvel is going to want to publish this, I can see myself tracing at least the the first three pages, to tidy them up!Hm, I wonder if IDW would want to do some kind of ARTISTS EDITION, if I go ahead and finish the thing. (I do know what's on the last page...)

I would love to see this printed right from those gorgeous pencils myself, in a book like one of IDW's AEs.

An IDW AE with pencils on one side and the corresponding inks on the facing page would be stellar. As long as we are dreaming.

As much as I've enjoyed the pages you've posted so far, JB... I'm also very surprised (and appreciative!) that your "itch" involved this particular group of X-MEN from way back apposed to the other Marvel characters* you've worked on in past years!
(*Hoping your next "itch" involves The Avengers... or better yet, Captain America!)
IDW certainly gets my money if this practice leads to some kind of ARTISTS EDITION!!
-C!

I'd bet Scott Dunbier at IDW would be VERY interested in these pages.

I have to say, this is truly awesome getting to see pages to a new X-Men story by JB, himself, and a story featuring my favorite iteration of the team , at that!
I'll say it again, THANK YOU, JB!

Is the fabulous 50 still around? Wasn't 50,000 sales what could be counted on when JB was drawing a comic book? That'd be one of the top-seller's nowadays for most Marvel books. Marvel should just take a practical approach and forget the past. Sell some books, make some fans happy.

Thank you for posting these and letting us ink them, JB. They’re really great and they’re a lot of fun to ink.
