I couldn't resist trying again to capture the perspective. This time I stayed loose and sketchy (which generally works out better for me as my line-quality is pretty poor) and closer to the source.
While I prefer the result to the previous attempt because the viewing angle is a better reproduction, but I can't say it really looks like Storm. There are many subtleties in JB's work...worthy of hours/days of study. I have realized that he does draw her with a very flat face (i.e. small nose) and over-large eyes with very thin eyebrows. Her hairline is also very low at the widow's peak. Also from this perspective the eyes are higher on the face, which is what messed me up originally.
Here's the (elegantly effortlesss) reference of Mr. Byrne's I used from Issue 24.
A final artistic observation --- it's probably a newbie mistake to have the character looking directly at the viewer. I need to make a mental note of that since I've fallen into that trap too many times.
