Tried to do a classic George Perez Starfire but added a few elements from some modern costumes. Toughest part was the soft face he used for her, I wonder if that's why it's been abandoned? Modern artists just aren't Mr. Perez, I guess.

One of my favorite intros of a 'new' character when I was a kid. Didn't know anything about the Angel, or the X-Men, but man, did Walt and Louise Simonson ever knock this introduction out of the park. Though I did think he should have kept the death mask. Also, I thought at the time that lightish blue and magenta seemed odd to me and black, red and yellow would have been cooler. First time drawing him so I decided to try both color schemes. And I was so wrong. I think the colors they chose were clearly better. Twelve-year-old me would be so disappointed in 42 year old me.

I have been playing around and working on sketch cards (2 1/2 x 3 1/2). The theme is "Face Off" showing heroes and their villains together per card. Here is what I have completed so far.

This was the first thing I drew on the new iPad Pro with Procreate. I was pretty happy with it.

Thanks. Never drew him before this. A hard design for me to get my head around, an all red costume with a lot of spot black type definition. I looked at lots of different interpretations. I liked the more recent Chris Samnee approach.

We're talking about sketchbooks in a class I'm taking, which has me wondering (question for everyone): do you have a sketchbook you regularly draw in. What does it look like?

I never used a sketch book. Never really liked it as a kid, I always wanted to draw on individual loose sheets of paper. Man I was picky.
