I wish I could see a whole issue like this! — By the time I reached Jeffery's comment, I was thinking of how much I'd love to see a future COLD WAR story arc done this way.

Seriously amazing work Mr. Byrne!
Love the look on Wolverine's face. The grey tones are gorgeous. ANGEL done this way was really nice. I noticed it on the whales in TRIO too (beautiful). It reminds me of the old Creepy and Eerie stores done in wash (think it is called wash) by Neal Adams or the Gene Colan pencil work that was published (think it was Night Force).

Or maybe a COLD WAR flashback that is all grey tones?

This is a great piece John, your texture on those blue jeans is outstanding. It is interesting to read that colorists messed up this texture in past work. I too see polyester when that shade of blue is slapped on anything. I think it has something to do with the particular color of blue being used in the 80's and 90's.

I LOVE this one. One of my favorite stories from Alpha Flight. I loved seeing Logan show up in that series after Mac's death.

That is certainly a beautiful piece with a lot of excitement. I think that was one of my first Alpha Flight comics I picked up.

I love the grey-tone commissions! You haven't done one yet that hasn't been brilliant.
Everything here looks great. Heather looks even better than you drew her back in the Alpha days, I love the specks on Logan's boots, the crinkles in his jeans, the two-tone simplicity of heather's overcoat, the blackened smoke around the cadaver and possibly the finest bit is the bottom left corner -- the weeds around the grave stones and then the cracks in the grave stones themselves. Brilliantly rendered.
What a wonderful picture!

I loved seeing Logan show up in that series after Mac's death.•• One of the best things about this particular issue, from my standpoint, was that I did it during a time when Shooter was trying to lay down ever more and more rules about who could use which characters where -- but because this was a dream sequence, I didn't have to jump thru any hoops to get Wolverine.

Or maybe a COLD WAR flashback that is all grey tones?•• That could actually work very well for the next story, especially if we tinker with format, as may happen.
