I just thought it might be FUN if you guys didn't know EVERYTHING about the book MONTHS before it comes out. But, if Chris has already done the "reveal", it's this guy…

Added to my pull list the other day. Once I said, "It's a new superhero title from John Byrne" the manager of the store said he'd grab a few extra for the shelves. I thought that was nice.

Agreed, Eric.  I'm a "spoiler free" kind of guy, much to the chagrin of my wife who doesn't care and often reads spoilers.  I like to be surprised.  I like discovering something when I get the chance to read or watch it rather than hear about it, often second, third or fifth hand.  I've always been like that.  I never read Previews.  I skip past trailers when I can.  I avoid threads discussing something new until I have a chance to experience it for myself.  These threads are great if for no other reason than the name TRIO is within the first five or six threads on the main board (advertising donchaknow) but I generally avoid them because there are too many people asking too many questions instead of just reveling in the excitement of what is to come!  Discovery, it seems, is a lost art.

As I have said many times, it seems very much as if the Death of Phoenix was close to the last time we were able to "surprise" anyone -- and that was largely because we surprised ourselves?

Hard to even imagine that story appearing in its original form, if it was published for the first time today. The contents of the issue would have had to be promoted three months in advance, which would mean no changes could be made without the book becoming returnable in the DSM. So there would have been no chance for Shooter's Whim of Iron to swing in and disembowel our story.
