If they can pause for a moment in their relentless reprinting of "Dark Phoenix", that is!!

What a brilliant piece. The way the shot of Wolverine was composed is impressive. I think that has always been my favorite aspect of JB's work. There are many great artists that have worked in the genre, but JB is one of the select few who can apply cause and effect with any skill.

I think a shot like that shows the inherent strength of comics. In a movie, the literal act of pulling oneself out of the muck would be taken for granted. In comic art like this, the act itself can be applified adding to the dramatic effect. Great stuff.

I don't think I can remember a standard format commission where there is so much to keep coming back to and discover new things to admire.

This time I'm pouring over the bubbling unmentionables in the sewer. Love the way it really seems to froth and flow.

I used to drop by Byrne Robotics every now and again, mainly to look at the commissions.  I stopped by and saw this one and was enthralled.  It made me pull out my 141 and show my girlfriend the cover. And then the rest of my Helfire Club issues.  Next thing I know I'm giving her the backstory of The Inner Circle characters.: Donald Pierce being based on Donald Southerland and how he played Hawkeye Pierce, hence the "Donald Pierce" etc.  She said "You should join the forum."  I said "Nah, I'm out of the loop." But a few days later, here I am.  This really is a wonderful piece.  It actually motivated me to join the forum.

We're a quarter into the year and this is still the commission with the most 'wow' for me so far.
