Yes!  Two of my favorites.

That solid black on Havok works so well.

Havok is a tough character to draw. Surprisingly so, for such a "simple" costume. Deceptively simple would be the proper phrase.

Inking this piece this morning I was reminded once again of the irony in Havok, that a character who is all about big, explosive power requires a very delicate touch in the rendering. Those hoops on his head, for instance. Make them too big or too small, or too thick or too thin, or any combination, and they just look GOOFY.

Dave Cockrum, whose chief mutant power seemed to be an uncanny ability to draw just about any character and absolutely NAIL them, seemed alway to have a wee bit of trouble with our young Mr. Summers, here. It was looking at how Dave drew Havok, in fact, that put in my brain the warning to be very, very careful when I did so myself.

And speaking of irony -- sad, isn't it, that a character whose costume was pretty much DESIGNED to be CGI, long before such a thing existed, finally arrives on screen and the filmmakers choose to make him very… ordinary.

Looks great!  John, a question about Havok's costume.  I know costumes are designed for appearance, but how do you feel about the mask and accesssories?

Two characters that, in my opinion, you do the definitive versions of.  Your Havok conveys such power.  Even when you draw him ABOUT to unleash, my mind can fast foward to the next panel...and complete destruction.

Fantasically Adams-esque.  Love the way you draw Havok. The facial expressions are just sheer brilliance.

Not sure what you're asking, Sam.

There have been several discussions here about costumes serving a purpose.  Do you feel this holds true for Havok's mask?

As originally established, the mask/headdress was part of a control unit that Larry Trask used to turn Havok "on" and "off". As such, it was VERY "practical". Once Alex escaped Trask's control, I suppose it was debatable whether the thing was still needed.

One of the best.  Any artist that would tamper with this sleek, classic design is off his rocker.  If you're a comic book artist and you think to yourself, "that's one costume that needs updated," please leave the industry now.
