Not unlike what they have recently done in the Spider-Man titles, but as an editorial fiat, rather than a story stunt.

When I talk to people about returning Peter Parker, Johnny Storm, the original X-Men and the original Teen Titans (plus Wonder Girl) to their teens, I always argue that it isn't necessary to explain why everyone is back at their correct ages.  Marvel and DC should just decide that's how it's going to be and move on from there!

What a frustrating thread this is -- post after post about That Which Cannot Be. Argh.

Anyway -- seeing JB's little Scott Summers sketch, the shirt collar made me think "Simon Williams." Who, of course, also wears "rose-colored glasses."

"Next issue of Marvel Team-Up -- Cyclops meets Wonder Man in a story we just hadda call -- Seeing Red!!"

P.S. Deacon Black should be shot.

If you reset one character to 1967, another to 1973, still another to 1981, and a smattering to 2000, I think it would be totally confusing.

Matt, this would only be confusing to those fans who think (and in some cases, insist) that all series that come out in the same year and month literally happened in the same year and month. I think many fans, creators, and educators need to be reeducated about how time works in comics. For example, many fans (at least on the net) actually believe that XMF is literally taking place back in 1991. While I can understand how time works in a shared comic book universe might be confusing to brand new readers (assuming they even give it a second thought), I don't get how this can be confusing to long time readers who are either clearly told or know through basic common sense, that not all stories are happening at the exact same time. As long as readers are forewarned in advance that a book is going to ignore and/or start fresh from a certain point in a character or comics history, should prevent any confusion.

Also, resetting the clock doesn't necessary mean that past stories you and I might have liked, won't be retold (although slightly differently) sometime in the future.

Deacon Black is just a guy on eBay who sells drawings of big breasted ladies. I wouldn't call any of his work "on model".

The more I read this thread, the more I want this to happen.

Well, when I told Walt Simonson about this he said he'd waited 14 years to do THOR. So who thinks I'll still be up to the task when I'm 73?

Joe Kubert can do it in his 80's. You'll still be able to go in your 70's.

I know this is all a pipe dream but it seems like Byrne returning to the X-Men would be like printing money for Marvel.

Maybe I'll do the whole thing with characters wearing mustaches, and post it
here!

LOL - I love it.  This is a GREAT idea.  Very funny.
