Even without being in a position of force if everybody put some good will in this who knows what could happen?

And, a note to those of you who seem to be imagining me marching into Marvel to kick ass and take names -- please remember I would hardly be negotiating from a position of strength. Another reason this is unlikely to happen.

No you can't force Marvel to do anything and they can't force you either but if both sides wanted to do it then working out the rest would be small. On Newsarama I saw that Tom Breevort said if he thought for a minute that you were really interested in doing this he would push hard make it happen. He's given editorial override to certain writers and artists to make projects happen.

It's not a question of me being "really interested". Of course I'm interested. I've already said this would be a hoot and a half, and my head is full of ideas now I have nowhere else to put!

But there's the reality question. The shadow of HIDDEN YEARS stretches long, and leaves me with some serious trust issues.

I've been working overtime to keep my hopes in check while reading this
thread as I know chances of something like this are slimmer than Scott,
but seeing the sketches above is indeed fun and gives me a big smile.
Thanks for posting that JB.

I remember being a kid and wishing that JB was not leaving X-Men, but it
took one issue of Fantastic Four to erase any disappointment. It opened
up a new world to me as I though the FF was a kiddie book. Now I like
the FF stuff even more than X-Men, tho the
Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne/Austin X-Men issues have very special place
in my heart. It helped me through tough times and even though I
stopped reading the X-Men soon after JB left, I fully understood why
those characters gained popularity. I think the CC/JB/TA years had a lot
to do with steering those characters in the right direction.

Now where's that omnibus? Must read it again!

Sorry for putting in one of the posts you needed to delete.

Back on topic: The art in this, the mention of plots and the recent commissions are really like twisting a knife. Oh what could be!If only Marvel would wake up, look at all this and X-Men Forever and realise, THIS is what people actually want.

Totally understand that. But Marvel of today isn't the Marvel of 2001. An awful lot changed when Dan Buckley replaced Bill Jemas. The only reason they'd cancel a book from underneath you now, would be if it weren't selling sufficiently to turn a profit. No other reason. And no way would a JB X-Men book not turn a profit, no way.

This would be such an exciting project . . . . golly, if I could turn wishes into reality!

Just out of curiosity, would Jean be living or dead in X-Men Evermore?  With the Jean in a cocoon scenario, you could go either way.

It felt really cool to type X-Men Evermore...:)

••

You know what they say. "If wishes were horses, then beggars would be
eating horse meat."

Wait, that's not right. . . .
