Boy, it took me forever (pun intended) to read through all of these posts.
Anyway, I thought this issue was really, really good. These are the X-Men
that I last enjoyed reading. I love the fact that this both feels like a
continuation of X-Men #3, and yet also a completely new and fresh
direction.

Tom Grummet, as usual is a great artist. I see him as a curious
combination of John Byrne's original X-Men style, and that of John
Buscema (not sure on the spelling), which in my mind makes for an
excellent blend. And besides being able to draw well, he actually gets his
stuff out on time!

I was a little bit surprised at some of the things that happened in this
issue, such as Cortez having strength enough to take on the X-Men by
himself, but then, as others have mentioned in this thread, we knew very
little about Cortez's abilities at this time, so it could very well be that way.
Also, the fact that Kitty phased out one of Wolverine's claws, thanks to
Cortez's powerboost, was handled very well, and very subtly. If you didn't
read about it on the internet, you have to look very closely at the artwork
(Wolverine rubbing his right arm after the battle with Cortez, and the
broken claw in the prelude in X-Men Forever Alpha) to realize just what
happened; and without the spoiler image of a later issue, you wouldn't be
able to guess that the claw is now in Kitty, you would just assume that
whatever blasted the flesh off of Wolverine was powerful enough to
shatter one of his claws.

Which brings me an interesting question: Just who is this mysterious
character that seems to have killed Wolverine? The only time I've ever
seen a blast that did something similar was that of a Sentinel in the story
set in the future in which we first see Rachel Summers. Could this
"person" perhaps be Nimrod?

I feel exactly the same way, B.

(I enjoyed JB's Hidden Years as well, but the original group isn't the one that I "grew up" on.)

Over on the comixfan boards, Claremont has responded to JB's desire to do his own X-Men Forever story. In a nutshell, he says he is intrigued by this idea and hopes that JB will get the chance to do his own X-Men Forever book. Here's the link http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/forums/showthread.php?t=46581&a mp;p age=29

Risking a cross thread pollution -

You'll also notice that a little further down that someone states that they wouldn't be interested in buying such a book due to all the stories he's heard about JB.  As there wasn't a little smiley face after, I'm assuming he was being serious.

I like to see it when someone with such strong convictions doesn't allow themselves to be persuaded by the opinions of others.

So, JB, let me get this straight. You have potential plots for four issues of a comic that doesn't exist and you created those in one day?

You'll never survive in this industry, you know that right?

All the FUN inspired by the buzz from this title makes me a little sad on how easy it could have been if DC would have just picked a spot to continue the Legion from and just run with it.

Pity I have expressed no such "desire".

That's nigh on forty yar before the mast, man and boy!

There is what I call the "Cascade Effect". (I'd call it the "Domino Effect" but that's taken.) I start to think about something like this, even in jest, and before I know it there is a rush of ideas, some good, some bad, some indifferent. The good ones tend to fall into place by themselves, and before you know it. . .

Gotta admire his courage, tho, boldly standing up to an international terrorist like me. Think of his personal risk!!

Read & enjoyed a lot issue #2.

Also recomanded for the fans of Nick Fury & the S.H.I.E.L.D.: Some good Nick Fury moments and we see Gabe Jones leading the S.H.I.E.L.D. team charged to investigate the crime scene. Nick is definitely more than a background character.

Those interested should be able to find my review of it on-line without too much difficulty.

Claremont says of JB, "Reading his stories and looking at his art has always been a delight. I hope he gets the chance."
