Time for Chris and me to have dueling X-Books! (Something that was
actually suggested back when I left the title!)

It would be like handing Marvel a license to print money!

" I think Claremont loves writing both Beast and Angel, since he tries to use them every chance he gets"

Beast, maybe. But Angel????? He wrote him out of the book over silly reasons (Angel didn't like Wolverine), almost the minute JB left!

Right. Angel left in #148. JB left in #143. Claremont gave Angel just one adventure (where they faced "Dr. Doom") before shuffling him off.

Ah. And I was referring to Angel's return to the team in #139 (which JB has said was his idea).

Indeed it was! And Bobby would have come back too, if only I could have
figured out how to draw him properly!

When Claremont returned to writing the X-Men in 2000, he used Angel in several issues. He also had Angel guest star in the two issue Xtreme X-Men Xpose mini series and wrote a story arc in the Genoshian Excalibur series that focused mainly on Angel kicking the crap out of a bunch high tech terrorist. In that Excalibur story, he showed how powerful and useful Angel could be with his original powers in a fight. Those issues of Excalibur showed that Angel doesn't have to be turned into Wolverine with wings in order to be a bad@$$ who can kick butt (which is something that the current editors and writers of the X-book don't seem to realize).

Not to take away anything that might properly belong to Chris, but based on my own experience, if the key word is "showed" it was more likely to have sprung from the artist.

I think Claremont said he intend to use Iceman in Forever, not as a member of the cast, but like for Colossus i believe he will appear in a story-arc.

He also had Angel crucified, helpless and doomed to marry some butch with a knife in the sewers. He was rescued by Storm. :}
