The issue of respecting an artists wishes can be a tough question. I attend the HP lovecraft film festival each year in Portland, which i highly recommend. Everyone I've encountered there has a genuine love of his work, but we're also aware that lovecraft expressed a desire not to see his works turned to film, he didn't feel they would be well done and would make the work banal. I suppose I rationalize it that he had other beliefs he held all his life which changed, I hope he would not be offended but who can say? There is some selfishness in enjoying a artist's work.

There is a feeling among many fans, that they are "owed" something by creators whose work they support. I don't know whether this is mostly unjustified or not. One way to look at it is that, authors owe their past successes to their fans but not their future successes.
I'm a big Lovecraft fan and hope to visit Providence, Rhode island someday. I also heard Portland has a theatre that produces a Lovecraft play once a year, although I might be thinking of the wrong "Portland".

Most modern comic art bores me to tears. It's all cookie-cutter
photorealistic garbage. There's hardly a thing on the racks that has any
life or personality. There's this wash of Alex Ross wannabes doing
competent but lifeless work. It's all stories of costumed characters
standing around talking about how they're going to do something cool
without ever getting around to actually doing it.
If you prefer that kind of thing to Gødland--you get what you deserve.

I don't know what part of Canada you're in, but the lovecraft film festival in portland is in early 0ctober each year, I would strongly recommend it.

I agree with the notion that a lot of comic art (and stories) today is boring but that doesn't, by default, make Gødland good (not saying it isn't, of course).
