That storyline never really sat well with me....but I suspect I've been misinterpreting Doom's (and JB's) intentions all along....I'm very curious to see JB talk about this some more.- Vinny Valenti
Yeah, me too. This was a major storyline for me back in the day. Damn, I would have loved to have seen "Doom War"
What ultimately did happen to Kristoff, anyway?

But don't you think part of the anger would be from Doom's vanity? After all, only Doom can be Doom.

Yep. Forgot to mention that part.

Wow. I always thought the brainwashing of Kristoff seemed a bit *too* evil for Doom. Glad to see that wasn't intended to be the case.

Isn't Kristoff the Doom of MC2's Fantastic Five?

Kristoff seemed to fall off the radar sometime around 1995/1996. He hasn't been seen since.
The Fantastic Five stories were sort of a What if? Future for the FF. At least, that's how I interpret it.

I'm sure you're right , Daniel. I'm just wondering if the Doom character I've glimpsed in relation to the Fantastic Five is some version of Kristoff.

Kristoff does don the Doom identity in the "What If?" future of Fantastic Five.

Walt Simonson did an interesting follow-up to that storyline, I think, in which Doom went up against an army of his former Doombots that had been reprogrammed by Kristoff to be wary of Victor since his reported demise in JB's classic FF260 tale. Dr. Doom prevailed and took back over his kingdom and seal of Latveria.
Some of Simonson's Fantastic Four stories were as excellent as John's, including a battle between Doom and Richards in the temporal medium that shifted anamalously based on inference than on straight sequence and an interesting rendezvouz with Galactus at the center of a black hole along with a few other intergalactic tales.

As far as I know, Doom 2099's identity was never revealed for sure. There were clues both for and against him being the real Doctor Doom.
