That's what I do with 'em too, Tom. Many times my wife has come across a TPB in the restroom and read it that way.
Restroom reading is one reason I don't believe comics-on-DvD are going to be a big hit. Unless, of course, someone designs a "Bookreader Pod" that is specifically designed for magazines, paperbacks, and comic books. And although the technology for such a computer device exists now, I'm not sure it'll happen. We live in a society where obsolescent industries tend to maintain market footholds.

I lent to my Boyfriend a book of gay comic-strips called "Leonard & Larry"!. He enjoyed it a lot!

My wife didn't read comics before we started dating, but she devoured Sin City and virtually any Miller books I could show her. She's very sad Nextwave is canceled as it was her only regular monthly read.

My lady has read quite a few comics for a civilian, including some Astro City, Black Panther, Static, Icon, Body Bags, Blood Syndicate, Storm, Daughters of the Dragon, and (shudder) Spawn. I think she most enjoyed the Elfquest: Journey to Sorrows End and Elfquest: The Grand Quest books. I highly recommend those.

Oh..I forgot to mention this in my other post in this thread.
My wife has also really been enjoying the recent issues of Detective Comics, which have all been stand alone episodes, not continuity drenched confusion. There's a little shred of evidence that new readers CAN enjoy superhero comics, provided the material is created in a way that is ACCESIBLE to a new reader.

Heck,no! My wife has picked up some of my comics and started reading them but that only lastedabour 2 pages. She won't even read the ones I make. I am hoping that maybe she will read the upcoming Buffy one, she is a huge Buffy nerd. The only chick I know who reads comics reads Fables trades. She read the original X-Men movie spin-off one-shots and I have tried to get her into Ex Machina but to no avail.

My wife really likes Rom, so I'll recommend that. She's read every
issue, all of the annuals, the SpaceKnights mini-series, has all of the
Rom crossovers, has the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe
issues that cover Rom's history, has all the toys...and several of her
friends are exactly the same. The ladies love Rom.
