The first comic my wife suggests for other women to try out is almost always True Story Swear to God.  It's full of great character and emotions, and can just as effectively bring a smile to your face as a tear to your eye.

When I go to the LCS I pick my books off the rack, top copy, never the Alternate cover (I figure my merchant can make more money selling variants to collectors, so I take the common cover), pay for them, throw them in a bag, and go home. Then I put them on the reading table next to the recliner. Some go on the reading table next to the "throne" in the facilities. They stay on those two reading tables for about a month, and when they are all read, they get tossed on a shelf, in a pile, in no order, with no protection. My wife usually encounters comics in the lavatory. She reads some, glances at others, and occasionally follows a mini series or two. She is now at the point that if I pre-emptively correct her confusing DC and MCG Universes, she feels insulted at my assumption. She has no problem being seen with a man over 50 years of age who is reading a comic book in public. She has even commented that it seems to her that my personal moral code is, to a degree, taken from DC's Silver Age books.

No wonder I like her.
