Oops, my mistake, your name is Joakim. To the rest, that's Swedish for Uncle Scrooge.

Any reason why they wouldn't use the term for "Badger" in their native languages or one for a similar animal?

Why would they use the word for badger? A wolverine isn't a badger.

A wolverine isn't a badger.

*************

Certainly not in Michigan or Wisconsin! (A little humor for the college football fans).

Its not a wolf or a cat either. But Badgers and Wolverines are related. Both are in the Mustelidae Family.

Lets see if I can help you with some of the German versions from the top of my head, Larry:

Cloak and Dagger: Licht und Schatten
Conan the Barbarian: Conan, der Barbar
Daredevil: is Daredevil in Germany, too.
Ghost Rider: Der Geister Reiter
The Thing: Das Ding
Justice League: Gerechtigkeits Liga
New Mutants: Die Neuen Mutanten
Punisher: Der Bestrafer

Well, I never said they weren't related, just doesn't make sense to call a wolverine a badger anymore than calling a leopard a tiger just because they are related.

Daredevil was actually called Vaghalsen (should be a ring above the first "a" there) in Swedish, before we stopped translating names.

Ok once again I feel forced to show you what ignorance and mediocrity can spawn.
Just because the publisher felt that the most important thing a translator must have to be hired by this company was a profound knowledge of comics first and be proficient in english second. I bring you

It really irks me when people do not pay the respect an occupation, any occupation, deserves.

I also had a book where he was called Demonen (The Demon). Not to mention our Republican newspaper who had The Phantom strip under the label Dragos, the Mysterious Man, and this was until 1980 when he was Fantomen (Phantom) elsewhere.
