I haven't commented much because the same ol' superlatives don't seem to be nearly enough to describe the art, but believe me I'm gushing over here, and feeling like a little kid again!

You know, I almost commented several pages back about something EXACTLY like that...but I'll let the surprises come without trying to help them along.

It's still not too late to adopt me. Or to marry my mom.

I'd love to see Mark Farmer's inks on these pages, and I'm a little curious on how Terry Austin would handle these pencils so many years later.

Sorry to repeat myself, JB... but these pages are AWESOME!!

Birds?  Why do I think those aren't going to be birds?  What I love about this page is the panel with Wolverine.  I don't need words or even his hands to his face, but could tell he was smelling.  Looking at the pencils it just look like that flowed effortlessly.

I really love page 9. Everything clicks for me on this page, but if I had to pick a favorite thing it would be the characters' body language. Your characters don't pose, they act.

I can almost feel a hot sun shining over them on this page, a colorist could further enhance the lighting suggested here. I love seeing Cyclops looking like himself again too, not with any beyond Hulk-sized muscles (or a perpetual frown-pout those later kinds of artists seemed to plaster on every single face).

Alan Davis did a good Cyc but soooo many others went the ternd-oid '90s massive thighs and three kinds of grimmace for facial expression 'style'... it was hard to look at any of that as being these characters. From some Alan Davis issues I found out Peter has a Russian brother (with powers) in a two issue story with the newer Marrow character. But I've missed so much between around 209 and 373-374... no idea how that all worked out or if the earlier brother was 'brought back' (noticed they have Illyana dead by then though.... whatever).

Oh, and Alan Davis did show Nightcrawler using that image transducer thing again, but that is circa 1999-2000, eighteen years ago now (though I'm just getting these).

I like the 'Slim' Summers aspect being a permanent thing that makes Cyclops at least a little different. Too many people having Captain America and Thor bodies is uninteresting visually; there should always be a little hint of Ditko to any Spider-Man and Dr. Strange too.

Eric Ladd: those inks look very good to me, but strange, like the scale is wrong, but I'd guess they were done at a small size, so that thinking if you worked at 10x15" they'd be perfect.

Unbelievable to think we'd all get a new X-Men
story as told by the "professor/chief", John
Byrne! Just the other day, I was reading my
copy of the Art of John Byrne, and daydreaming
about what might have been had Chris Claremont
left the title instead of Mr.B. Might an
Fantastic Four Elsewhen be far behind? These
would get me back as a reader!

"Birds?"

Poor Wolverine. He has no idea he's about to become Adamantium barbecue.
