Oh, please. His opening post singled out a particular story area where
no-one was publishing except ... oh, surprise, him.
We get a mention of his project in Post 1, a link to his blog in Post 3, a
claim on Page 2 that his work (which is alone in its field, remember) gets
to a truth that no-one else can or will. Another claim to be alone in
speaking the truth through his work at the bottom of Page 3. Page 4 we
get a direct plug for the product, followed by a plug for his blog. On Page
8, we get a quote in full of the only post up to this point that had
much positive to say about his product. Page 9 sees another plug, and
Fawstin moving to bold for all his comments, followed by a massive quote
from, and link to, one of his blogs. Page 11, another link and illustration.
Two posts later, another image with embedded link to his blog. His next
post, another illustration and embedded link. The post after that, more
discussion of his product, followed in the post after by a mention of
that Toth endorsement. Next post: another image from his work
complete with embedded link. Four posts later, another image and blog
link. Page 13, he's bigging up that product again: "And if you care to
learn more, read what I've said about it on my site, in radio interviews,
etc. But you ain't heard or seen nothing yet when the book hits".
Maybe that doesn't constitute self-promotion, but I'd be curious to see
what does.
Cheers
Jim

Al, if there is one thing I have tried to make my trademark in the online
fora I frequent, it's to try and avoid the dogmatic defence of a position
against all evidence to the contrary, the argument for argument's sake,
and to be prepared to alter or revise my position when presented with a
decent standard of evidence to convince me of a contrary position,
In that spirit, I have to say that I said something rather uncomplimentary
about you in another thread and I would like to apologize. I was wrong,
and I'm sorry.
In fact, I would like to applaud you for the quote above, and possibly have
it made into a t-shirt.
Cheers
Jim

I guess it depends on the definition of self-promotion.

I had zero interest in the topic of "post-9/11 war comics," but read the thread because it was 13 pages long, so I figured there must be something of value in the conversation. How wrong I was.
I agree with Jim. This thread is nothing more than self-promotion and deserves to be closed, or at least a "drift" edit in the thread title. Regardless of the quality of the work, it's against the rules of the board.
Or maybe we should have a "self-promotion" thread, where we all pimp our own books (2 for me!).

Only if that definition somehow managed to exclude all previously-known
and accepted definitions of self-promotion, Mike. You're reaching here.

Forget self-promotion. At this point it's just self-pleasure.

Well it's not up to you or I to decide; Bosch hasn't been doing anything in this thread today that he wasn't doing yesterday, as you noted for yourself. The thread has been right up at the top of "Active Topics" since then, and JB and other mods have been active in the forum. Therefore whatever Bosch is doing here isn't apparently self-promotion for the purposes of defining it on the JBF.
EDIT: the above was to Jim, sorry.

And Knut? You said it beautifully. You truly did. I was really impressed by
the sensitivity and equanimity you displayed when you first spoke about it.
(Eighth post down.)
I went a more direct route.
