He’s “directing” the whole thing from Mar-a-Lago. Must be making money
off it somehow.

****

Well, when you have the brilliant military mind of Pete Hegseth as your
Secretary of “War”, do you really need to be anywhere else?

I can’t stop thinking about the Americans who have died so far in this unsanctioned “war”.

At least Trump has learned the lesson from Afghanistan and Iraq about starting a war with no clear plan about what comes after.

Oh.

I am so impressed with Keir Starmer right now. Standing up and saying no,
our bases can only be used for defence actions.
I know it’s a thin line, but it is a line.

My nephew recently joined the National Guard and I was
really, really hoping that things would not play out
exactly like they are, which is exactly like I was
expecting.

This is still a thing that I'm only seeing reported on social as yet, but apparently there have been complaints filed by troops that leadership has been telling them this is literally the biblical Armageddon they've been waiting for.

That whole uneasy mix of white Christian supremacist and the American military has long been problematic, but until now it's mostly been background shit. But with Hegseth it seems like the main event.

Given how far even the most devout Americans are from any kind of Biblical literacy, it’s hard to imagine how Armageddon could be seen as a good thing!

I've been saying this for years - they sincerely believe in the importance of triggering Armageddon so that Christ would return and save them all. It's why they don't give a shit about Climate Change, or advocating for peace, or anything else - after all, it's predicted in Revelation that all these things would happen before Christ's return.

Thing is, the God of the Jews and Christians very directly gave them the responsibility of being stewards of this world. But I guess that's just too much hard work for them.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your NEW Four Horsemen: AI, Blind Faith, Sexual Assault, and a fourth one that's kind of all the Seven Deadly Sins rolled into a single odious moron.

I was hoping against hope that the apocalypse thing was
false. I still am.
But I fear there are a boat load of Evangelicals rubbing
their thighs at the prospect.
