I wanted to try something a little different – instead of tweaking a previous page in photoshop, I wanted to completely re-ink the same page and compare it to an early post just to see my progress. I didn't reference my earlier inked page so I wouldn't be influenced. The top image is my most recent and the bottom page is a post from Feb 2019. I also have to re-iterate that this creature actually came out of John Byrne's mind – and as he freely admits, it's dark in there and your feet stick to the floor o:

That's the main issue I've had with anything I've done digitally. It's so easy to go back and tweak, correct, or otherwise alter, that's it's difficult to decide when it's "done". As opposed to traditional media which you can only rework so much before you start destroying it🤣

My goodness, what a wonderful improvement. Great progress. I'm not just blowing hot air because when I first saw the post I misread it and assumed the top was the old and the bottom the new and thought---"I had better keep my yap shut because I like the older one better!". Thankfully my first read had it backwards.
You've got to feel pretty good about the improvement! The recent one looks like a pro ink job.

Ha! Thanks Steven! I think I'll re-word that post. Appreciate the comment!
Tony - I agree with that assessment. I have overworked my inks in the past thinking more is better but have learned that's not necessarily true!

Steven - thanks for noticing. I am doing my best to try and refine my inks with cleaner/finer lines. I use multiple tools which include Kuretake brush, Tombow pen, and Sakura Pigma pen - these are great Japanese pens. I also use micron technical pens to get the finer lines - mainly .005. I'm getting better at using the brush to also get some finer lines.

I actually went back and looked through all 79 pages of this thread yesterday. Your inking has definitely improved in leaps and bounds, Paul.

It is really clear that you're getting better and better, Paul. Looking back at the page where Wolverine finds himself in Doom's lab and meets 2 Dooms, I think you tackled some very tricky stuff with really strong ideas. I'm particularly impressed with the wood door that Wolverine opens and the stone pillar behind it. Shadows on different kinds of material-- all reading easily. Great job!

Thanks Craig! Thanks Mark! Very cool that you noticed the Wolverine/Doom page! I was definitely experimenting with textures on that one. For the stone pillars, I used a black Crayon! Oh and there's one thing that still bugs me about that page - I could have done better with Wolverine's smirk as he's coming through that door (it's the little things...)
