Your inks on JB remind me of Gene Day's during their Avengers work together,
Paul.

Is Day an influence of yours?

Hi, Mark -

I like Gene Day's inks quite a lot. His work is very clean, which I try to push myself to be. I'm pretty sure his influence seeped into my own inking style.
Gene's no longer with us, but he left behind a legacy we can always go back and appreciate.
Thanks for that comparison!

Paul Wills — re Cap’s chain mail, it’s been suggested—and I agree—that what Simon and Kirby drew was cloth OVER mail.

JB Thanks! It does help to have the mindset of how the material is made up. It gives a good starting point on how to approach inking (or penciling) that material. There is way, WAY more to inking than I initially thought.

Darren,
That looks like Terry Austin inked it. Outstanding!

Hi,
the first entry of this forum is about having fun, so I did!

Before the time of the internet I was puzzled by the zip-a-tone effect on JB's Namor and OMAC seeing that it seemed painted, a lot of years later the web gave the answer about the magic paper.

Let's say that I haven't been very respectful with the pencil, I tried something loose and focused on the energy. By its 'driftings' this is not a good inking job but it could be used as an example of 'no-no'.

I had a lot of fun, enjoy (or not)!
