There’s a certain irony in that people still holding a grudge against JB for leaving X-MEN forty years ago are now screaming that he shouldn’t be allowed to do a new X-MEN book.

I'm guessing you'll all have realized that "when" this becomes real it will no longer be targeted for May. More like October.

The people in charge of this decision surely see this as
a good idea. It would sell no matter what, and if it was
hyped in the correct way, it could sell double that.

Good to see it's a "when" and not an "if" this become real. Only the nostalgia and the curiosity factor over this series, would guarantee big sales for the first issues. Marvel should have very big reasons to not want to publish a sure success when they know that the Byrne name associated to Marvel characters sells big!
If not Marvel wouldn't publish things as Marvel Universe by Byrne vol.1-2, coming soon Namor by Byrne and Jae Lee Omnibus,...

It's heartbreaking to think anyone wouldn't want this. After all this time I still don't get some of the super-fans or fans turned pro and what really motivates them. :^(

Hey man October is a great target. What's a few months considering I never dreamed that this day would come... JB back on the X-Men!!! To get back into the LCS for a monthly Byrne book is going to be so cool. I sound like a broken record... THANKS JB!!!

I fear my use of "when"--even in quotation marks--may have misled some of you. Nothing definite is happening yet.

And don't read too much into "yet," either!!!

Hypothetically, an October release would mean it would show up in the August Previews (I think its a three month lag?), which would probably mean a reveal / announcement for the San Diego Comic Con - that timeline makes sense to me.

Anyhow - how many pages / issues are you up to at this point, JB? And do you have a definitive ending in mind?

••

Six 20 page issues, one 38 pager, and about half of one more. I've actually slowed down on the penciling while I catch up on scripting.

As to an ending... When I run out of stories to tell!!

How many of you have spotted the "visual symmetry" in an October release?
