Chris is doing one fine job at IDW. I read quite a bit from there now.

Chris probably won't remember this, but I actually met him about six years ago. I was supervising producer on BEAUTY & THE GEEK and one of our competitions took place at ComicCon. The Geeks and Beauties had to come up with their own superheroes and a panel of industry folk judged them. We actually couldn't get any room at the convention center, so we had to shoot it at a hotel not too far away. Chris was one of the judges and he couldn't have been nicer. I chatted him up for a few minutes and as JB didn't have a relationship with IDW at the time, I mentioned how great it would be to bring him into the fold (funny, because I had mentioned IDW being a great company to JB just a month or two before without knowing Chris was going to be involved with B&G!). IIRC Chris said that he was a big fan he of JB's work and it was one of his dreams to get him to do something for IDW. Six years later and he was as good as his word!
In any event, I've been impressed with IDW for years, certainly benefited from their relationship with JB by way of some great comics, and am really pleased to see Chris posting on the board. Welcome!

I won't remember that? Are you kidding? That episode has gotten me more crap from more groups of people...
That day was a blast -- riffing on the reality-show people with Brian Lynch and Eric Powell was pretty hilarious. And that episode seemed to get re-shown a lot of times, since I would always hear from random people about it each time it aired. Which is amusing to me since the night is first aired, there was a big brushfire or some such in Southern California, so all the shows were pre-empted by local news. I figured I got away clean, that close friends and family would therefore never see it and I'd never have to take any ribbing for it. But upon each re-airing, someone new seemed to see it... funny. Too bad that show didn't last, it seemed a lot better than all the shitty reality fare that clogs the airwaves now.
Anyway, I stopped fighting it and it's up on YouTube for the world to forever laugh at us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvYHEMfCpOs
Although, god, was it really six years ago already? And here I hoped it was the crushing deadlines that was aging me prematurely. You mean I'm actually just aging...?

HA! Yeah, feel the same way. I know it was Summer 2007 'cause it was Season 4 and I wrapped the fifth and final season of B&G in April of 2008. Loved the series, BTW. One of my personal favorites that I've worked on. Glad you had a great time, but sorry for the ribbing you've taken because of it!

Chris in addition to all of the Byrne books you've put out I'd like to personally thank you for whatever you did and do to bring us Locke. And Key. Such a fantastic series, I can't recommend it enough to everyone here.

Awesome news - I want to give you money, and you want to make cool things that I want. Also, I am looking forward to seeing the Byrne G.I. Joe cover in the next G.I. Joe complete collection book.

Chris, I don't want to abuse your presence, but :
please tell me there will be a volumn 2 for the Star Trek Newspaper strips? I hoped for years that one day they would be collected.
I'd also love to see a collection of the UK Star Trek strips, especially the work by the great Mike Noble.

Ed, an Artist Edition is a book that's shot from the original pages. There is no color, no clean up. What you get is, every page is a facsimile of the original B&W art boards. It's also printed at a 1:1 size, so the book is big, depending on the board used. Most will be about 11x17. It's probably as close as youll ever get to having the actual pages of an entire story or short run.
