Aww, thanks, Joe. Hope you like it. Had fun putting it together. It was worth it just for the Stan intro and Harlan outro, not to mention everything in between.

So, I'm looking at the IDW FF book and hesitating 'causefor me, right now, 100 bucks is a lot to spend on a book.
There's no question it would be a delight to own, but what I'm curious about is how the folks around here that've bought similar artist editions feel about owning theirs.
How would you say it's a good value besides having the comics?
I have a good idea of what folks're likely to say, but I'm curious nonetheless. Perhaps I'll be convinced to shell out the cash. Again, I'm fairly certain I'd enjoy having it--but I'd like to get some reviews from the board, if it's not too much trouble.

Marcel,
The Artist Editions are my favourite books right now. I have all the standard editions so far, including the remarqued John Romita Sr and those to come that are on pre-order have been pre-ordered.
As well as a great reading experience, (they have spoilt normal comics for me now. Everything should be this size!!) I look at them as the ultimate art school. A lot of the work I haven't read before, and some of the artist's included I have heard of, but not followed (never read Groo, any of the Mad stuff or the Tarzan) but having this little peek behind the curtain has taught be a fair bit. Not only in terms of technicalities, but it's also changed my approach to the work as well. For that I will be forever to grateful to Chris, Scott and the rest of the team for putting these books together.
Looking forward to whatever comes out in the future. (and if that can include any John Buscema Silver Surfer or his second run on Avengers that would make it a lot brighter...)

Thanks, Chris.
My LCS says they may have a display copy, which I had forgotten they'd mentioned at the time of making my last comment.
I really hope they do, as it will go a long way towards convincing me it's worth the expense, not only for the art--but for what the company is trying to do for us fans.

How would you say it's a good value besides having the comics? ====== It's as close to owning a whole story's worth of comic book art that most of us will ever get. $100 is a lot to me as well, so, once I placed my order a couple months ago, I've been giving my LCS $10 or $20 whenever I go in. Now it's paid for before it shows up and I don't have to drop the entire amount at one time.
Now, if Chris would just space these out a little better, I could get a few more. (grumble, grumble, grumble)

Space them out? Then you're going to hate our upcoming "52 Artist's Editions in 52 Weeks" gimmick we're building toward...

I have been fortune over the years to have been able to buy a large selection of original comicbook art, and there is something truly magical about being able to "see the work" -- to look at a page and see remnants of the pencils, see corrections, see editor's notes, etc. These books come as close to capturing that as anything is ever likely to.

I love seeing the process and would add to the above sentiment that along with seeing pencils, balloon pastings, notes and the high quality scans of the art, these volumes remind me of how much coloring changes the artwork. I may love the finished and polished product, but the intimacy involved with the original pages and these volumes astounds me.

"Intimacy" is a good word. When looking at a black and white original, one is about as close to "sitting by the elbow" of the artist as is possible.Over the years, some, including myself, have observed that there are five or six steps in the creation of a comic book page -- which is five of six chances to f**k it up. So, the "sooner" in the process we see the work -- as in these "Artist's Editions" -- the closer we are to original intent.
