I see there’s a FaceBook page called “Byrne Victims” that is not only pirating these pages, but has more than six times as many members as this Forum.

Let’s have a resounding sigh...........

And so it ends.......

Because of the double-page spread at the beginning of this "issue" there will be only four pages this week. And those four pages contain the end of this cycle--including the last page, which has literally been in my head for YEARS, in one form or another.

Hopefully, the end will satisfy. . . . . . . . . .

I was banned from that group years ago (and the moderator's other John Byrne "fan page") after having the audacity to react negatively to "fans" on those pages who went out of their way to visit a fan page only to besmirch the subject of the fan page.

In retrospect it turned out to be a good thing to get banned from those pages. Far too many hypocrites & a few ignorant posters who claim to be fans of JB, yet have no knowledge of the JBF here.

I wasn't reading comic books when Phoenix returned. When I started up again,
I'd heard of it and was immediately turned off to the idea. I was such a fan of
the original story and it had remained a constant re-read that I felt it was for
the better that I missed it. I eventually tracked it down as I was catching up on
wheat I missed in JB's FF run. It definitely exceeded my expectations - it was
an inventive take.

ELSEWHEN blows the doors off it though. It feels much more organic to the
original published X-MEN issues. I love seeing X-Men comic book action and
grandeur, but these quieter moments in which the characters interact and
bounce off each other makes the series.

And I really like what Claremont did in the original series, but it's such a kick to
"hear" JB scripting this.

I'm just so grateful to have this series now, particularly during a pandemic lock
down that persists in my region of the country. Reading the series has me
revisiting the original series and X-MEN: THE HIDDEN YEARS that I have here
on the shelves. It's great breaking out ESSENTIALS editions, TPBs, and
original issues. I think my favorite companion piece has been the recent IDW
X-MEN ARTIFACT EDITION - you get caught on a certain page, and it leads to
breaking out the source issue, and the vicious circle continues!

Thanks for bringing these old friends back, JB - it means a lot to me

Nothing from you could disappoint us, JB. We are
dreaming awaken for months thanks to you and your
scratching of an itch which just lead us to
thursday and YOUR end of YOUR arc. History of
comics is being written (and drawn !) in front of
us. Never was I so excited since your finishing of
JBNM !!!

For whatever reason, it seems that many people these days can't be bothered to visit a message board like this. Instead, most all their online activity is apparently regulated to social networks.

Back at my shop and also at my booths I have regularly told customers about this forum, Yet, despite the recommendation to those customers whom I know are fans of JB's work, I have only seen a few actually post here over the years. When "Elsewhen" started, I heavily promoted it to my X-Men and JB customers, but I get the feeling that most of them likely check the pages out on one of the other sites that re-post the pages.

I don't attribute the lack of interest in visiting the board to read the story to any animosity or such, though. It seems more of a "one-stop shopping" mentality. If someone on Facebook has a page there where the pages are being posted, I'm guessing some of the fans stick with checking it out there since they are already logged in and using the site. That's just a guess, though, since I never polled anyone I know about the matter. I would think, though, the chance to discuss the stories and art with the actual creator would be a BIG draw for coming to the board here.

JB, when you say the end of this cycle, do you mean Elsewhen will end here, or just this Phoenix story?

Either way, thanks as always for sharing this work. It’s been an amazing read!

It's sad that some feel the need to pirate rather than do the tiny bit of work necessary to come here and get this story directly.
It isn't rocket science to get an email address. And it's disrespectful to the creator to steal his work and post it to Facebook instead of guiding the interested to his website.

And JB, I cannot wait to see this page that's been on your mind so long. I'm glad that this cycle of stories erases Days of Future Past from the timeline-- it should have been a "wasn't that a GREAT story!" and left where it was--and that this hopefully opens the door to a future where the X-Men's struggles will never be in vain.

The Byrne Victims page goes to great lengths to guide people interested in Elsewhen to come to this page. The owner/moderator is a huge JB fan. Yes, there are the occasional knuckledheads (which you get anywhere), but overall it's a fun spot.

I signed up using my Facebook email, so that excuse won’t work for anyone belonging to that group.

But do you even need to be a member to see Elsewhen? I know I’m often not signed in when I view the pages. Perhaps there are more people looking here that just don’t bother to create accounts 🤷‍♂️
