Incredible! Easily in my top 5 commision pieces so far...

JB, that idea for an XMHY annual sounds brilliant! Did you actually have a
set of plans for storys based around "the all new, all different" X-Men to
appear in XMHY too, or was this a one off idea for a 'special'? I know on
the faq you say that XMHY was 'finite' because of GSXM 1.. but would you
have continued to 'untold' tales if it had contunued to a second year?

Personally, i also wanted it to get to the point of the original X-Men
leaving & following their first steps after the X-Men...

Either ways, the idea of that annual is yet another reason to be depressed
at that brilliant books premature ending...

Congrats, Jeff! Great idea for a commision! My first thought was "whoa! awesome, a great piece!" Now we also get an interesting backstory as well!

It looks like you drew the stars first , then did the black fill-in.

Correct. I don't like to use white-out on the commission pieces, so for "cosmic" scenes I am forced to take this more arduous approach.

I planned the Annual as a one-shot "Special", tapping into what was, at the time, the only clear "untold tale" involving the "new" X-Men.

Almost two whole pages and no Ari?  Maybe someone should call him, make sure he's okay.

You're right, Ryan. Ari is usually all over these commissions. Maybe somebody should indeed drop him a line off-list to check in... too much bad stuff has been going around of late not to worry at all.

Silver Surfer/Phoenix, who would win?
The readers of that comic-book would win, if one day JB does it.

Awesome!!!
Phoenix saga is one of my favorites comics, Thank you for sharing, JB
