Might be time to shut this thread down and start a new "Kamala Harris" one.

"This is written in reaction to the selfless act of a U.S. President stepping
aside..."

No.  It is written in response to the scorched earth tactics employed by the Republicans, and the dishonesty and hypocrisy of top Democrats who swore to us that Biden was okay when he obviously wasn't, and then turned on him only when his condition threatened the outcomes of down ballot races.

"There is no way to turn this around while Trump is out there telling some Americans that other Americans are their dire enemies, actively seeking to pit people against each other for his own benefit."

I agree, but my comment wasn't focused on just Trump.  His voice has been the loudest and therefore the most destructive, but there has been equally divisive rhetoric from others in both parties.

Can something be "the loudest and most destructive" but also "equally divisive"?  Feels like a superlative trumps an equivalence.

Today, the DNC informed Harris she must name a VP candidate by August 7 in order to meet the Federal ballot printing schedule.  So she has just 2 weeks to decide.

Mr. Wickett, do you have any examples of these divisive rhetoric that the Liberals are using?

Let me clarify:  Trump is the most divisive person in American politics because of his prominent position as a former president and the de facto leader of the Republican Party, the size of his audience (national media covers everything he says), and the sheer volume of destructive rhetoric he has spewed during his career.  There's no contest.

Other individuals are less divisive than Trump because they are less influential, but the content of their rhetoric is just as bad.

I will post some examples, but I don't want to misquote anyone, so I want to take the time to look them up, and I can't right now (have to get back to work)

Some things I've come to realize about American politics:

The primaries are decided by the most extreme partisans in the country. So therefore, our candidates are picked by the craziest of our citizens. This is why most Americans (like me) do not identify with either party.

The people in charge of the parties have no special intelligence or ability. They often do not understand the Constitution or the laws. They do not have a plan. There's no huge conspiracy between or betwixt then because to do so would require the ability to have a plan.

The Republican party doe not exist any more. It's just Trump and his cult. They're "running the show" by not running anything. The Democrats have no idea what they are doing.

By the way, my state is so heavily red my vote doesn't matter, but it won't be for Trump! Down the ballot I have some real important voting to do!
