Thanks! I'm trying to use similar. Crow quills are not comfortable for me yet - I'm experimenting with brushes, and I just ordered the Tombow Fusenosuke to see how that will work. Kind of fun experimenting with various ink tools

The tombow is sold in a two pack; one firm and one soft. I pick them up at a local art store so you might be able to get them locally. Try putting a foam pencil grip on your crow quill to make it easier to handle.

I honestly have learned more about inking in the last year working on JB's pencils than in all the years prior.
Also, I marvel at some things I don't catch as a casual reader - the way the small figures each have personality despite being so tiny. These are not just 'stick' figures. One guy is even looking at his watch as if he's late for something! Super fun to ink!

Nice job, Athanasios!
I received my Tombow Fusenosuke brush pens today and wanted to test them out - this was the perfect page for me to do so. I really like using these pens! Great feel and I think they allow me to ink faster. 
The last panel has got to be the most heartbreaking scene in all of Elsewhen.

Digital inkers, are you using the same brush for the entire page? Lots of lines look the same. The shapes and directions of the lines might differ slightly, but they appear to all be from the same brush. This gives metal, fabric, stone and lots of different materials the same look and therefore flattens the page. Line weight variation can sell a page, but a lack of variation will kill a page. There are few exceptions to the rule that every panel should have a foreground, middle ground and background.

It’s a great point, Eric! I’ve found my digital inks take a lot of work once I turn the pencil layer off. You have to go back through and build things up quite often.

It's true one can easily fall in this trap. On the page above, however, I must have used at least 3 different brushes.

Re-reading the question, I guess the question was about brush sizes. The answer to that is more than ten brushes used. I change sizes pretty often.

Thanks, Vinny! Being compared to a well-regarded comics pro is a great compliment. I'm always striving to improve a bit more each time.
I have a new page I'm working on that I'm pretty happy with (so far!).
