The shrinking effect they were going for with the Atom doesn't really work either.  Looks like Atom and his little buddy.

I was figuring on painting the suit black, but what about the hat and cape?

 | Picked up Dr. Mid-Nite today:
I had pre-ordered him from my LCS, but they recently had a computer failure, so he never went into my box upon arrival...  Happened to notice him still in the display case.  First male DC character figurine after Power Girl and Saturn Girl...  I hope Landru is pleased. |

I like the Phantom Stranger despite the coloring.  I'll be adding that one.

Also, ordered a whole bunch of early figures from before I started collecting. Aside from finally getting a Wonder Woman, Batman, and Robin (Tim Drake) next week, I also ordered Green Arrow, Aquaman, Captain Cold, Mr. Freeze, Sinestro, Anti-Monitor, and I can't remember all the others. Probably about 15-20 coming in though. Should pretty much catch me up to where I want to be going forward!

 | •• Odd "casting". I see there is a "Batman vs Superman" chess set, too, on which Gordon is more logically cast as the rook. But the lineups are decidedly odd. On his "team", Batman has Batgirl, Robing, Knightwing, Gordon and a line of generic uniformed cops, while facing them from the other side of the board are Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Steel, Hawkman and a row of Green Lanterns. In the "real world" I can't see that tussle lasting very long!

I may consider the Batman set (even with Damien as Robin... I could just pretend it's Tim in a different costume. Or pay someone to repaint it.) but the Batman vs. Superman set is too weird for me.

Batman and his extended family vs. Superman and the Justice League? Why not have Supergirl, Superboy (Conner Kent), Mon-El, a Superman Robot etc as Superman's side? Have Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen opposite Commissioner Gordon. Wouldn't that make more sense? Big Pass.

The Batman vs Superman chess set is odd indeed; I wonder why they didn't go with the more logical Justice League versus the Legion of Doom?
