Thanks to an Amazon gift card from my boss, I have some long desired books. I’ve never read any of Orion, and I was thrilled to find some unknown JB art inside. Likewise with the JB Omnibus, I’ve never read Iron Fist, Starbrand, or most of the single issues included. Some fan I am after 35ish years!

Succumbed to the call of Lego again, this time for the FRIENDS apartments kit.

Halfway in. Mostly a fun build, tho there are some disappointments. Big one is Joey’s porcelain dog falling victim to Lego’s policy of recycling parts. The stylized greyhound becomes a German shepherd! My quest begins.

Disappointed, too, with the hallway that separates the apartments. Barely a sketch of the actual set. I need to find a way to flesh it out.

Much amused that the figures include Janice.

ARGH! A major missing part. A call to Lego provides salvation—but shipping time is about two weeks.

See, I just get annoyed when I think a Lego doesn’t actually represent
something in the correct way.

JB decides he will redesign the set.

Continuing with the build, and for the last several afternoons slipping into the bottomless pit that is Monica’s apartment. SO much detail!!

(Fan Rant: the kit acknowledges the late-in-the-game episode that addressed the door at the back of the apartment. Having lived in New York apartments I’d assumed it was access to the service stairs, typical in older buildings, but the show runners decided to reveal it was a closet in which super-tidy Monica dumped her junk. A real FIBBER MAGEE affair that presented a threat of burial to anyone who opened the door without the proper caution. Didn’t care much for that reveal.)
