Found a post grumbling about my “tendency” to forget Tigra’s tail. “Oh, come on!” I thought. “That’s really stretching to make a Bad Byrne story!” Then I google and—holy katnip, Batman! There are a LOT of my drawings out there where Ms Nelson is minus her feline appendage! Where was my head??

She didn’t have one for a while. I almost want to say you’re the one that gave it back to her, but I could be wrong.

Now I don’t feel so bad. Another case of the accusation coming without backup!

I believe she didn't have a tail at all until Steve Engelhart gave her one in WEST COAST AVENGERS.

Yeah, Tigra didn't sport a tail during her first decade, or so. Before posting, I double-checked and see didn't even have a tail in the early issues of "West Coast Avengers." So, yeah... more unfair BS to foist upon JB. He no more "forgot" than Al Milgrom, Bob Hall, etc.
This issue of her tail was actually addressed over on CBR:

Yep, i think it was either you or Englehart/Milgrom who gave it to her in West Coast Avengers. Probably them, but you made her even more féline.

According to the link Matt posted, it was Englehart/Milgrom.

Funny thing--as an artist who likes to practice drawing everybody, I find that Tigra (and just about every other cat person in comics) looks exactly like a vampire in the b&w pencil or ink stage! A tail sure helps in that case!

JB, would you be willing to share where were you going with Tigra’s storyline in Avengers West Coast, with her becoming more animalistic and feline?

Wasn’t all that much to it, really. Tigra had been getting more and more feline, then this was quickly resolved by having the cat-people who “created” her “cure” her. I got to wondering what cats would think was a “cure”.
