I’ve not seen anything new by Green in a long while. While once upon a time, he would’ve been on my list, I don’t know what his work looks like now.

I think Mark Morales would be a wonderful choice for inker. Currently, he does a lot of inks on Ed McGuinness' work, but his control with a crow quill would be very nice on these pages.

Since we’re starting with an old guy on pencils and script, it might not hurt to have some young blood on the inks.

Since it was aborded in the last post, i'll start with the inker argument:

Terry Austin is probably my all time favorite inker, but before judging the work of the guy who possibly will work on this book, i'll wait to see the actual finished product. Terry is great, others are good, and some are great too.

The Chris Claremont argument: I'm a huge fan of Claremont, but i already know what Chris Claremont would have done, because he actualy did it, and i loved it. What i wondered at the time is what John Byrne would have done. Here is the occasion to see what John Byrne can do today.

Old stuff/new stuff: what i can see in these previews looks fine to me. In the past, the new stuff has not always been better than the old stuff, but that "new stuff", the bad as much as the good, is now old stuff too.

I have nothing to add to the other points.

I still say Trevor Scott did a fantastic job
on your Atom run. I think he would serve well
as inker on this project. He is young-ish.

Who usually inks Jimmy Cheung?  That may look good, too.

Speaking of imagination, I've been amusing myself picturing the reactions from some quarters should this actually become a real series
---------------------------------------

your statement and points instantly made me think of the scene where Wolverine runs into the main room of the Hellfire Club covered in goons.

All of those "fan" points may not even be a consideration of the Galactus-sized corporation that is Marvel.

There's never been a better time to publish a series by you:
-"Dark Phoenix" comes out in theaters
-It's the 40th anniversary of some of the greatest X-men stories
-Your stuff is being reprinted like crazy this year
-Marvel will need to get as many X-books out there to help with the cinematic introduction of the Disney X-men.
-etc, etc, etc,

I think ANYTHING with the name "John Byrne" on it still sells like crazy!

Pure Byrne would be my preference, but if pushed to select a different inker,
I'd go with Mark Farmer's brush/pen on this. Colors byyyyyy... Trish Mulville?

I don't know whatever happened to Larry Stucker, but on the few occasions where he inked JB's pencils, the results were beautiful. And quasi-Byrne/Austin-ish. Stucker would be my choice.

If not him, then someone else whose inks at least somewhat remind me of Austin's. Bob Wiacek?

JB your answers to some of the possible chatter makes me want to see this work even more. Oh boy.
