Is the effect of having that many skulls about macabre or clinical?•• For me, neither. Strictly artistic.

When I was young, I buried my deceased hamster in the back yard (not deep enough, apparently.) Within a few years, her skeleton became exposed from the earth. While it was a tad bit gruesome to hold the skull of a pet in my hands, I was also quite fascinated by it. It was a hidden "taboo" memento for me for a number of years.

Kaiyodo is coming out with a Sci-Fi Revoltech action figure of the Power Suit that Studio Nue (Macross, Crusher Joe, Yamato) designed, which I believe was used for the cover of STARSHIP TROOPERS book in Japan (and shows up in the DAICON III & IV opening animations by the Gainax founders): http://www.hlj.com/product/kyd04043

That Storm has a messed up face. I thought maybe it looked "scrunched" because it's a small image, but it looks the same in larger pictures.

Yes, good body work on Storm -- they avoided the "makes her look broad in the beam" cut of the costume -- but the face is... wrong. Fortunately, I am quite content with my Bowen flying figure Ororo.

JB: It's very interesting to note which skulls and skeletons are for sale only to accredited med schools and other such institutions!

Wonder why that would be??

I was looking into websites that sell skulls & bones (I might need the reference for a job coming up) and came upon this regarding sales of REAL human skulls:
Due to stringent regulations, these specimens are only available to medical or educational academic institutions such as college professors, teachers, doctors, nurses, dentists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, dental assistants, optometrists, x-ray technicians, ultrasound technicians, crime scene investigators, lawyers, and students of these professions. People in similar fields may inquire to their eligibility in purchasing these.
Come on! "Profeesional artist" should be enough to get you a real skull! I draw zombies, dammit! I need a real skull!!! Anyone got $1600? NO? I guess I'll stick with my fake skulls...

Truth is, you don't need a REAL skull to be able to draw skulls. Heck, I am pretty proficient at drawing skulls, and my "training" began with the Visible Man model, by Renwal, the skull of which was only slightly larger than a golf ball.I am being tortured right now by Bone Clones' full sized, articulated gorilla skeleton *replica". Argh! I have to spend money on the HOUSE!! This doesn't COUNT!!

Crap! That would be so much fun to have...
I totally agree. The real ones are totally unnecessary. The problem with the horror art I do is that it's fully rendered and needs photo ref to keep my speed and obsession with light sources and stupid detail up to snuff (it's my favorite crutch). I like my collection of fake skulls... but I see all of the toddler skulls and think "that would be so much fun to draw from!" Next thing you know, I'd be sending my client a batch of art featuring odd zombie/skeleton toddlers... My son would love it! I doubt anyone else would... Blone Clones is the website that I bookmarked. Very very very cool stuff. The company that sold real skulls wasn't as useful.
I bought a 30" articulated skeleton from Restoration Hardware years ago. It was one of their Halloween items, and ended up going on clearance. Very handy. Now I really want the muscle figure that you have.
