In general the Batman Black And White statues seem to be well done.
The Mignola version in particular is great looking.

I was chatting with Paul Kupperberg an hour or so ago, and as I happened to be sitting facing the shelf upon which I have my collection of Batman Black & White figures, we fell to talking about those. And I found myself realizing that, by so perfectly capturing the artist's various styles, these little statuettes are actually representing something else that has gone WRONG with comics in recent years. Cuz, really, no matter WHO drew Batman, all those figures (poses notwithstanding) should look THE SAME!

"On model" is a term that has lost so much meaning in comics.

Much as I love Sergio's work, I couldn't bring myself to buy that one.
Oh, how I wish they\d do a Dick Sprang or a Curt Swan Batman B&W

Looking across the Studio at the 2ft Carmine Infantino style Batman I have, which is about the closest we are likely to see to Dick Sprang (and which is not very close, I admit), I am struck by how WRONG that particular vintage Batman would look, all black instead of blue. We all know in our heart of hearts that black is what it SHOULD have been, but for any number of reasons, it wasn't.

(The Jim Aparo Black&White statuette doesn't look entirely right to me for the same reason -- Batman was still in his "blue period" when Aparo was drawing him.)

Honestly, I always assumed that Wolverine's shoulder pads were metallic, and that's going back way further than when the Image boys came along - my first exposure to the yellow outfit was from reading the Dark Phoenix Saga TPB around 1983-84 - after JB already put him in the brown suit. That assumption was a key factor in me hating the yellow outfit - metal just seemed wrong on an earthy character like Wolverine.

The chimp skull arrived today -- with a catalog. ARGH! Immediately ordered a large gorilla, a housecat, a Siberian wolf and Beta Ray Bill --- I mean, a horse.

This is going to be a very dangerous place for my wallet!!!

If there was only a catalog for replica skulls of the criminally insane, you'd be able to create your own copy of the Mutter museum...

You need to see that place!

It's very interesting to note which skulls and skeletons are for sale only to accredited med schools and other such institutions!

Is the effect of having that many skulls about macabre or clinical?
