I think that The New Teen Titans by Wolfman/Perez is a masterpiece. So funny and dramatic with a lot of characterization. And Lopez and Barreto did very good jobs to!

The Titans met some mysterious societies and organisations. Azarath, The Hive, The Church of Brother Blood, The Amazons and The Citadel. But did those ever encounter each other? If not, why not? Was it some kind of rule that they should be kept apart?

Speaking of NTT…

JB, how did it come about that you pencilled that annual? And how did it
come about that Garcia-Lopez inked it? It’s quite a visual pairing.

Thanks, Brian. I don't think I ever knew that comic existed!

My intro was the X-Men/NTT crossover - which had phenomenal Simonson
art.
I immediately went on a NTT hunt, which was an interesting thing to do in
Huddersfield back in the day.
We had no official comic shops, but there was a newspaper shop next to
the bus station who started importing comics off his own bat. I got on really
well with the owner, and that where I got a lot of stuff like Camelot 3000,
The Dark Knight etc.
But then we had a chain of newsagents called Rymans. There were a fair
few dotted around the town centre, which really wasn’t that big, but it still
managed to have four to five of these.
And these started to have loads of American issues, just odd issues turning
up, and different ones in different shops, so I could spend a Saturday just
combing those shops.
So when I set out on my NTT hunt, I managed to get a fair few back issues,
while also getting the latest issues - which was the Blackfire issues, along
with the first annual.
That felt like the equivalent of starting the X-Men with the Dark Phoenix
saga. What a story to start with.
