Steven Q: "With regard to Harris, I have yet to hear a single thing from her to-
date that made me think she is smart."

I was thinking the very same thing about you!

Ouch! So nasty Tim.  This is more your home than mine.  I will self-silence on all things political.  Sorry for the unwelcome rants.

The typical level of growth in GDP for post-war America is the envy of the world. It is an economic miracle that has made the US the richest country in the world. So, yes, I call it strong.

Let us remember also, that this was a riposte to your contention that in many ways we have never recovered from the recession of 2008. By definition, matching the rapid economic expansion of post-war America and that of the 80s boom part of the Reagan administration cannot be equivalent to one of the deepest recessions of the 20th century.

Steve: Does that help you mentally pigeon-hole me as a total nutjob?

Well, it certainly puts an asterisk on your assertion that we are “not facing
any global crises.”*

*according to your gut.

Well, the VP debate was somewhat entertaining tonight.  I think the biggest moment definitely came from Walz when he said, "That's a damning non-answer."  Said in response to Vance's refusal to admit the orange one lost in 2020.

The funny moment is when Vance whined and said, "Margaret, the rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check!”  Said in response to her clarification about Springfield, Ohio .

I bet Vance caught hell from MAGA daddy over how many times he said he
agreed with Walz.

It was kinda nice to see two people who were talking coherently. Proves how bad Trump is for the Republicans...and the country.

On the car radio today (In SoCal), most comments were of the nature of "why couldn't the Presidential race be between Walz and Vance?"

Brad, my aunt, who is voting for Trump, said the same thing when I talked to her after the debate last night.

Just providing an update on the state of the US economy, which briefly became part of this thread: the US added quarter of a million jobs in September, a much better number than expected There were also substantial upward revisions to the number previously reported for July and August (a combined upward revison of 72k) and these numbers would seem to dispel any fears of an economic slowdown, let alone a recession.
