When Trumf speaks I find myself remembering an issue of GREEN LANTERN that came out decades ago.

In the previous issue GL had the crap beaten out of him, so the first few pages were Hal pulling himself together and getting back on his feet, surrounded by copy extolling the measure of a man and what it takes to be a true hero. Stirring stuff.

Or it would have been, if only the writer had rendered it as narrative captions. But instead, it was thought balloons, so the whole thing played as Jordan singing his own praises.

The same game Trumf plays.

I agree with the idea most hold that Trump cannot help himself in what he says. But I also believe that he believes his bragging is not only true but that it is good political strategy as well, case in point, he is actually concerned that good looking people win votes just for that and so he believes his "I am better looking" statements are necessary and smart to counter either the reality of Kamala Harris being good looking or the unfair and unjustified press she gets in that regard.

Ah, when will this pestilential fool finally be hooked off our nation's stage...?!

I vacillate between whether or not I believe that Trump
believes his own nonsense, though I do disagree with your
latter point. I am always amazed when people attribute
additional meaning, nuances or intellect on cunning to
any of Trump's statements. In the 50 very public years of
existence, he has repeatedly proven himself to be an
oafish bully with a very limited intellect. All one had
to do in that time was see the headlines, lawsuits,
endless blathering, etc to see this.

Timely quote popped up in my facebook memories today, as
counsel for journalists, but is pretty common sense
advice for all:

"If someone says it's raining & another person says it's
dry, your job is not to quote both. Your job is to look
out the fucking window and find out which is true". -

My belief that Trump believes his personal attacks and self-aggrandizement are good politics does not impute any kind of smarts to him, just to be clear. The measure of his political success is primarily that he stumble-f@cked his way to the Presidency[?!] at the right (but so very wrong!) moment in time ripe to exploit distrust and racism. He is himself, as I said, a pestilential fool. Cheers, Fred.

My prediction is that in early September, the Democrat convention boost and the fact that abortion is on the ballot, will result in polls showing Florida is a swing state.  And both campaigns will scramble to adjust.

(polls there over the past 4 weeks have shown Trump’s lead declining from 10%, to 7%, to 5%, to 3%.  A straight line progression downward into margin of error territory)

Florida going blue would be a game changer and maybe lights out for Trump but I'll believe it when I see it.

This DNC has been the best I’ve seen… never had such an entertaining time watching and listening to politics. Everyone brought their A+ game from the first night to the last. Kamala’s speech was excellent… checked all the boxes! Now, on to the debates!

Kamala did a very fine job. I think the assessment I read in the WSJ was correct: "well delivered, confident and optimistic, and mostly devoid of policy substance." But that's okay. She can get to the substance now. Last night was a moment to re-introduce herself, and she succeeded.

"Never do things half-assed" is doubtfully going to be enshrined as one of the great presidential quotes when (not if, please!) she is elected.

I dearly hope she and her crew put their full-butts into everything going forward.

Vote Kalama and get rid of this guy!

No matter how it turns out.
