Nathan, issue 58 "Even An Android May Cry" is my favorite issue of
the Avengers EVER. Cover's great too!

A couple more by our pal Sal Buscema -

The omission of AVENGERS #4 is just baffling. Not only is it a
seminal AVENGERS moment but, IMO, it's one of Kirby's best and
most iconic covers.

I like the cover for AVENGERS/JLA #2 but it was a wraparound cover.
Odd that the full cover isn't shown.

What about this classic cover?

I didn't notice it until I started going through Avengers covers, but the "floating head" was a common design for that book starting with #9.

I also think any cover list omitting #4 is invalid. It belongs before #1.

No argument with their choice at #1.

The rest -- as always with these kind of lists -- can be quite readily argued.

As Laren pointed out, the omission of Avengers #4 is glaring.

There is something about Kang's pose in #8 that makes it iconic and it would also have made my version of such a list if I were to make one.

Avengers #75 is also cool, with some great cover blurb and a brilliantly drawn Quicksilver, and then there are quite a few good'uns from John Buscema's 1908s run, such as Kang vs Immortus.

My favorite original/homage combination.  I used to have a three-ring binder with the original cover on the front when I was a kid.

First the original by Gil Kane & John Romita -

And the homage by George Perez -

I think you have to go out of your way not to include issue #4 on that list.

Some I'd have included, not in any ranking order, and not including ones already mentioned in this thread (I think)...

Nathan, I have an irrational soft spot for the line-up from Avengers 300. Though I thought it would be better if Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman replaced the 4s on their uniforms with As.

And another great homage, this time by someone familiar.

Original by John Buscema -

Homage by JB -

Although there are a lot of great Avengers covers, for me this one is #1.
