No, you're not misreading my post Mike.  Waits is someone I just like a lot.  He didn't invent hobo lore at all.

My point on the rescue plan/bailout/call it what we want is that it doesn't have to be done Paulson's way, or whomever thought up a plan to bail out Wall St.

I am surprised Obama doesn't just come out and say it is a swindle.  I think that would guarantee him a victory.  I hope he says it next debate.  The American people would be behind him.

I am looking forward to Biden's crushing of Palin.

Oh, ok!  Yeah, I love Waits, too.

Yeah, I think there's a better plan out there maybe, but I also understand - unless I have been misinformed - that keeping these lending institutions open will keep the market afloat, so... you know, someone has to bail them out, no?

I don't have the answers.

If Paulson had his way, he -- an unelected official in the executive branch -- would have discretion over $700 billion without Congressional oversight.

If a lot of people, particularly baby boomers close to retirement, get stung, I think we are heading into a new era of increased regulation.  If some form of bailout gets passed, it'll be bigger than the New Deal.  One of President Bush's legacies.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's legacies too.

(and really Barney Frank and Chuck Schumer for brushing aside calls for reform for the last 7 years).

If anyone puts a vote for this person, shame on you. For the sake of this country, republicans need to ask for her to step down.

Yep. My father was due to retire in April. With what he's lost in his 401K in the last year that will have to be put on hold. Unless the market rebounds significantly. He lost almost $8000.00 just yesterday.
