And, to be totally and completely superficial...what was up with his shirt and tie? His washed out blue shirt and a striped tie just did not compare on television with Obama's bright white shirt and solid, bold tie. Obama already has an appearance advantage with his height and age...but the clothes also really added to that and made Obama appear that much more of a dynamic presence.

I also was surprised about McCains choice of what to wear.

I was really pleased Obama seemed firm but respectful, I like that he agreed some with McCain. I have never thought McCain was completely without merit, I just think it is time for this country to give a more positive new ideas kind of guy a chance. And when McCain picked Palin, that was it for me.

"I thought libel was not constitutionally protected. It might be reasonable to question whether these prosecutors and sheriffs should be involved in a partisan activity, but I don't think this should be portrayed as censorship."

If proven, libel can be prosecuted AFTER the fact.  But it has to be proven in a court of law.  A governmental agency restricting free speech, especially politial speech, is censorship.  Maybe some constitutional law professors didn't teach that in their classes.

You didn't see the evidence or hear the testimony that was given.  They did.  They believed it and Obama didn't.  Use an ounce of common sense.  Any reasonable person would believe the nearly 100 others over the lone Obama.

*******

I read the transcript of her testimony. Did you? Link just a few pages back. She offered no proof. None. Nada. 100 other people were not testifying, they were listening to her testimony. Just because 100 people believe something does not make it true. I have asked you to provide me with one verifiable case of this happening. You have failed to do so. I'm done

As for the other nurses?  Maybe they didn't want to be fired or blackballed?  Just a thought.

*************

The exact same argument I just gave why Congress overwhelmingly voted to pass the bill. Afraid for their jobs. That's why I like Obama. He'll take an unpopular stance even if it means people will turn against him. Just like when he said tapping into our oil reserves was a dumb idea.

This thread seems be drifting into "No...YOU!" territory again. It becomes uninteresting to read.

********

You're right, Howard.

"Obama never voted against going to war in Iraq. He wasn't in the Senate at the time. ?"

Thanks for correcting me... I sit corrected.

Howard. OT, but you're 6 posts away!

And in case anyone is wondering, though I detest the idea of abortion, I'm pro-choice.

I agree with this 100%. And that's going against platform for me.

And proving it in court requires a lawsuit, which is what this group is doing. The NRA alleges that Obama's counsel threatened them with the FCC, and yes, if the FCC swoops in and pulls their ads before any libel is proven, that'd be censorship. But the respondents other than the NRA in that article seem to think they have the right to make false statements.

No Scott, I didn't ignore it, I dismissed it. There are too many stupid and/or unnecessary laws everywhere to believe legislators only support good legislation. Laws shouldn't be enacted "unless there is proof it didn't happen". That's ridiculous.

Indeed... and then whoa to all who stand in my way as I rise to fulfill my preordained destiny.

Is ANYONE really PRO-abortion. I think this is the genius of the far right to allow the discussion to be phrased as such. As I have said previously, I am definitely PRO-choice, but I am PRO-life as well.

Howard
